Privacy

Privacy should be explained in plain language.

This policy describes the information WTFIsTrending.com may process, why it may be processed and the choices available to readers. It reflects the current static-site source package and should be reviewed whenever hosting, analytics, advertising or forms change.

Effective and last reviewed: 26 July 2026

Information that may be processed

Information you provide

Information sent through direct correspondence, such as a name, email address and message. The current source package has no active website form and does not transmit an email address from the website.

Technical information

The hosting provider may process IP address, request time, browser or device information, requested URL, referrer and security logs needed to deliver and protect the site.

Analytics and consent data

Google Analytics 4 is available only after a visitor explicitly allows optional analytics. Before that choice, the Google Analytics script is not loaded. The local preference value records granted or declined so the site can respect the choice on later pages.

External services

Linked services may process data under their own privacy terms when a reader chooses to leave this site and use them.

Why information is used

Cookies, local storage and analytics

Google Analytics 4 is consent-gated. The analytics loader is not requested until a visitor selects “Allow analytics.” Selecting “Continue without analytics” keeps the analytics script disabled. The choice is stored locally under wtf-analytics-consent so it can be respected across pages. Hosting, security or content-delivery services may still use technical logs or storage necessary to deliver and protect the site.

Change your analytics choice

Reset the stored choice to show the consent panel again. The page reloads immediately so a previously allowed analytics script is not carried into the new choice screen.

Service providers and international processing

Hosting, email, security and consented analytics providers may process information on behalf of the site. Their locations and retention practices can differ. Only services needed for an identified purpose should be enabled, with appropriate contractual and security review.

Retention

Information should be kept only as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, security, recordkeeping or legal obligations. Hosting and security logs may follow provider-defined retention periods. Contact and correction correspondence may be retained when needed to document an editorial decision or resolve a dispute.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, readers may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a copy of personal information. Requests can be submitted through the contact page. Identity or authority may need to be verified before acting on a request.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information may request review and deletion.

Security

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards should be used, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Do not send passwords, confidential business records, health information, financial account details or other highly sensitive material through ordinary email.

External links

Articles link to third-party sources so readers can verify evidence. Those sites control their own privacy practices. This policy does not govern information processed after a reader leaves WTFIsTrending.com.

Policy changes

Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, when appropriate, a prominent notice. This page should be reviewed before any new advertising, account, payment or form feature is launched.
